Off the bus with a smile.. A good sign!

Sounds like he had a good day, met some new friends and "I didn't even get in trouble once", he said. "Let's hope every day of first grade is like that, honey"!

All he ate out of his lunch was a go-gurt and chips because he brought his sandwich and grapes home. Hence the reason he is starving after school! Oh, and he said they only got to go to recess once. For some reason, and maybe it's true, he thought that when you get to 1st grade, you get 2 recesses. He was a little disappointed but I told him it may have been due to the record 107 degree heat.. Did I mention this was supposed to be the hottest day of the year..oh, and I hope it was!!

We were going to pick up Prince and Will blurts out.."When is the last day of school?" Seriously??

Prince was so happy to see us..He did great having his procedure done and thankfully he didn't even have to have sutures put in. Now, we will just pray for a cyst and not a tumor. He has done nothing but sleep since we got him home. I think the anesthesia really made him weak.

To a GREAT school year ahead for all!!

First day of First grade

Our morning went pretty smoothly, considering we've all been sleeping as late as we want for about 3 months now. I have to confess I did push snooze this morning and luckily woke up 15 minutes later. Got the coffee going for Charlie and me, then threw the "requested by Will" cinnamon rolls in the oven, cut up a little watermelon and upstairs to wake up our little "big" first grader. As his alarm beeped on and off loudly, he struggled to roll out of bed... I know sweet boy, life is hard when you have to go back to school :-(
Other than getting a little watermelon juice on his shirt (I spotted it real quick and through it in the dryer), everything went as planned. Charlie decided he would rather keep "wild man" here while I took W this morning(since we all went to meet Mrs. B just a few days ago and all E could do was tug at my purse begging for gum or going up and begging other moms for gum...Aaaaaahh!). We were able to get lots of cute pictures before we left.. and that's when I started feeling my eyes growing.. like tears were going to explode out of my eyes! I held it in pretty good so I hope Will didn't notice. I just looked back at some of the pictures and you can so tell.. Mommy with her glassy eyes.. why am I so emotional??
I felt so bad because I could hardly talk to him the whole way to school because my words wouldn't come out. Then we get out of the car and he doesn't want to hold my hand..what?..breaking Mommy's heart! Walked straight to his class, found his cubby area for his lunchbox and backpack, took a few pictures of him sitting at his "big boy" desk, gave a couple of hugs, a kiss and reminded him to mind his manners.. then fled as fast as I could so that I didn't have to talk to anyone with my bulging eyes.
When I left, he was just sitting there staring at all the kids. There was a paper on his desk that they were supposed to start working on, so I hope he woke up and got busy..Ha!
He doesn't know a lot of the kids in his class because most of his buddies are in different classes this year. I think this was a blessing!!
I can't wait to see him get off the bus this afternoon and hear all about his day.
More to post later...

Oh, and I had to take our Princey to the vet this morning to have a possible tumor(we're hoping cyst) removed from his leg. Going to pick him up this afternoon.. Eli will be so glad to have him back home. He almost cried when we had to leave his little buddy.

6:30 is way too early!!
Still not quite awake

Last Day of Summer Break

It's almost here.. First day of 1st grade. How the summer flew by, but that was because we were so busy having so much fun together! Sad to see it end, but like Will keeps telling me, "We have summer break again after first grade, right Mom"? Already excited about next summer.. how funny! Just hope that doesn't mean we're in for a long school year.
Today, we visited a church we've been to before, where we know several young families that attend. Enjoyed our morning there, lunch with 4 other young families (one that lives just down the road from us).. it felt good since we've been missing that!!, then to buy boots and a belt for our soon to be 7 year old.. home, then to a birthday party, grocery store for last minute school lunch items, home to get dinner served so we could possibly have 2 little ones in bed at a decent time(since it is the 1st day of school tomorrow.. or did I already mention that?..Ha!) We made it by 8:30.. goal is 7:30, so we'll be working on that this week.
Then.. clean the kitchen, finish laundry, oh..and I realized tonight that W's tennis shoes that he wore for 2 weeks at the end of Kinder are filthy..Ooops, threw them in the wash real quick since I couldn't send him to school tomorrow with dirty shoes and every other child has brand new, stinkin white tennies on. Lunch packed (1/2 turkey sandwich, black grapes, chips and gogurt), clothes hanging on his door, alarms set in his and my room, camera battery charging, silly paperwork filled out that I have to return tomorrow, breakfast planned out and ready to throw in oven.
Since it's now midnight, I'm thinking this Mommy needs to head to bed!!
We love you so much, Will, and know you're going to have a fantastic year ahead. Saying lots of prayers for you tonight and always. Love, Mommy

On the road again

Traveled most of the day yesterday, from the panhandle to Abilene. It's so nice to be able to break that trip up! The boys got to see their cousins one last time for a while and we all got a good nights sleep(the wknd wore us out!). Thank you P & K
Now on our way to get our Princey. I'm sure Nana has spoiled him rotten.. Hope he wants to come home..Ha!

We will miss you Jinxie

What a day.. What a year! Haven't cried so much since January and then March when our PawPaw and Poppy died. Jinxie's funeral service was so special and beautiful, just like her. She will be dearly missed by so many. So many adjectives thrown out to describe her today.. Made me want to be just like her!.. A perfect Christian example to live by. An amazing woman I was so blessed to know for the past 14 years. So thankful for the grandmother you were all those years to Charlie and now to our boys. You will always be our special Jinx.. Love You!

Eli has been running fever off and on for the past 24 hours but with a little tylenol, he was doing great. Took him to church but he went down hill from there. Missed lunch at church with the family to take him back to where we were staying. Put him down for a nap, sitter Teri came so I could be at the funeral. Went to check on him after the cemetery (3 hours) later and he was still sleeping. WoW! Went back to church for family visitation and then back to find him awake and burning up.. 104• under his arm.. Oh my! Thinking that's the record for him. Promptly dosed him up and cooled him off. Right now it's 10:30 pm and he is playing with all the kids like a perfectly well child. I know this isn't the case so we're off to bed.. Praying for a good night and no more fever.

Planning on saying good-bye to friona tomorrow sometime.

Sweet Jinxie

Another sad day... Yesterday afternoon, 8/12/10, our precious Jenny Fern Snead took her last breath on this earth. Our hearts are hurting but know she is much happier right now.
